Brunch Meetings in 2010
Mandela Center Denmark hereby invites you to the upcoming brunch meetings in 2010 at the PH Café in Halmtorvet 9, Vesterbro – Copenhagen
Sunday September 19th
at 11 am – 1 pm in the PH Café
At this brunch meeting titled “ I am also a South Africaaner” filmmaker, writer and film producer Jon Bang Carlsen will present his story from South Africa, and how he saw his own cultural image mirrored in the African culture. As Africans before him, he had to prove that he still had the ability to change to a deeper spiritual level to survive in South Africa. He was no longer controlled by a minority of his own culture. This was also the theme of his film “Addicted to Solitude” - which he will show bits and pieces from during his presentation and as a basis for debate.
Sunday November 14th
at 11 am – 1 pm in the PH Café
Brigade general Finn Særmark-Thomsen will present a speech titled: "From cold war soldier to diplomat". He is well known for his strong opinions and for being one of the best known Danish generals, who participated in the international missions in the Balkans during the 1990ties. First as UN - Commander in Macedonia and later as Commander for The Nordic-Polish Brigade in Bosnia. After that he was the first Chief Commander for The Danish International Brigade and later the leader of the multilateral UN-Brigade SHIRBRIG.
After his retirement in 2000 he has been sent out as attaché to Kosovo and has been Director for OSCE in the Mitrovica-region in Kosovo. His memoirer "The Wizard's Pupil" has just been published.

At Mandela Center’s sunday brunch meetings you will also meet Danish people, who has been sent out on peace and reconciliation missions to rebuild democratic institutions and securing reconciliation processes between different religious and ethnic groups where dialog has stagnated. You will also meet Danish people that seek dialog processes through methods such as sport or culture activities. They portray notions of the importance of contributions from individuals.
At these events Mandela Centre Denmark will serve a light brunch meal.
Price per person for each meeting is DKK 75,- as we again are seeking funds for these events.
We will be very pleased to see both members of the organization as well as interested guests – All are welcome.
